SS2011 Trend: Burnt Orange

The recent London and New York Fashion Weeks have all demonstrated a key theme; 90's minimalism with a 70's twist - simple shapes accentuated with a bold colour.

Burnt orange is the new black!

LFW - Burberry SS11

Sadly, London Fashion Week is officially over for this season, but to remind us all of the fabulous catwalks i have selected my favourite live stream from the show.

Which was your favourite collection this season?

It's here - London Fashion Week!

Journalists, bloggers, buyers and fashion scouts are all out in force for the hectic calendar of shows, events and parties this week.

Goody bag preparation - LFW SS09.

Hair stylists, makeup artists and nail technicians are all working flat out to ensure each show has the right look; designers, assistants and seamstresses are all busily making last minute alterations; press assistants are checking goody bags and seating plans; back stage and front of house are dressing models and preparing the catwalk...

The start of the week kicked off with Paul Costelloe, closely followed by Maria Grachvogel.

In Wonderland...

Alice in Wonderland fever has hit the UK it is official. After queuing for 30 minutes to see the Tim burton adaptation, i thought to myself 'this better be worth it!' As with all Tim Burton films it didn't disappoint, and i was sucked into Alice in Wonderland mania.

Topshop had an array of jewellery including teapots and madhatters on theme, but who wants the same as everyone else these days? I was extremely excited to discover ringmasters boutique who have gorgeous bespoke pieces for under £25, including this fab Alice in Wonderland clutch bag, made out of an old book. You can imagine how disappointed i was when i found out the designer had sold out!

Here are some of my other favourites, amazingly, all made from old books! I could potentially buy them all, but would then potentially be very broke.

I am going to 'invest' as after all, i am recycling...

Esquire 'does' Fashion Week...

To mark the occasion that is Fashion Week (if you don't know this, please stop reading - where have you been?!) Esquire have launched a free magazine highlighting the best dressed, where to shop and who to watch. I don't generally read men's mags but this did entertain me, even if it is all about menswear!

Sony do their part for Fashion Week...

As i now work for a marketing company we are constantly on the hunt for innovative ideas and concepts to inspire our clients. One brand we are definitely keen on is Sony.

Within their marketing budget they allow for a huge poster at the side of their headquarters in Japan and this is changed once every few months. This has obviously been challenged by environmentalist groups (and quite rightly so) as what happens to the artwork once it has been taken down...

Sony have reacted and delivered a great campaign to tie in with Fashion Week's around the world.

They have made jeans out of the old artwork, which are available to buy. Each of the 120 unique, handmade pairs sells directly from the wall. People can view the jeans through supplied binoculars and once a pair is selected, someone climbs down the side of the building to collect them.

I think you will agree this is definitely a great marketing campaign - bravo Sony...Although i am not sure i would want any of these Jeans...would you?

Truly inspirational and one of a kind...

Today has been a very devastating day for the fashion industry; the talented, influential and inspirational fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London flat this morning.

Having won four awards for the British Designer of the year and with a CBE under his belt, Alexander McQueen was one of the most iconic designers of our decade. He pushed boundaries with his designs, never afraid to try something new whether it be his 'bumster' trousers, or his recent most recent 'Armadillo' shoes.

His creativity was key to his collections, epitomised in the video below:

Hugely popular amongst the celebrity world, tributes have been made by Cheryl Cole and Kate Moss. Alexander Shulman, editor of Vogue has commented on his death:

"His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs. His death is the hugest loss to anyone who knew him and for very many who didn't."

Truly insiprational and one of a kind.

Ga-ga Over Apple...

As i am sure most of you will be aware, Apple have launched their new ipad this week and the technology world has gone slightly ga-ga. Everyone and everybody has been talking about it, so i thought i would jump on the band wagon too.

I have no clue what is so special about this new gadget, apart from it being touch screen obviously. Yet i can't help wonder if there is any need for an oversized iphone? It looks as though Hitler agrees with me...

When the iphone first came on to the market, i was determined not to be a sheep and follow every other mobile user by changing my contract in order to get one. I am now (begrudgingly) considering investing, after i saw a recent app enabled for the iphone, entitled 'TrendTracker.'

Aimed towards fashion lovers on the go (aka. me) the app lets you keep track of the latest runway looks, fashion news, trend ideas and inspiration direct to your mobile. Pure genius if you ask me!

Fashion Dilema...

This week has started off on the wrong foot. Can we rewind please?
